how it works
Navigating the process of addressing radon concerns in your home is a straightforward journey with Martens Radon. Here’s a brief steps list to guide you through the process:
1. Get your home measured
Schedule a professional radon test. Martens Radon can perform this service, many home inspectors offer radon testing, or you can use a DIY test kit. While uncertified tests may be less reliable, a high DIY test result is often reason enough to consider mitigation.
2. determine mitigation needs
Once you know your radon levels, decide on the best course of action:
- For low-use spaces (e.g., storage basements): You may choose not to mitigate.
- For high-use spaces (e.g., home offices, family rooms, or bedrooms): Consider mitigation even if levels are below 4 pCi/L to reduce long-term health risks.
3. Radon mitigation system cost
Every home is different – that’s why we always start with a free on-site assessment.
Unlike online guess-tools, we look at your foundation type, layout, and electrical setup so you only pay for exactly what you need – nothing more.
Here’s what real Martens Radon systems typically cost in the Evergreen, Golden, Conifer, and Lakewood foothills:
- Activate an existing passive system (add fan + alarm): $550 – $850
- Standard retrofit mitigation system (most slab or basement homes): $1,400 – $1,800
- Crawlspace systems with encapsulation: $1,900 – $2,800+ (depends on square footage and access)
No surprise up charges later. You’ll get your firm price in writing the same day we visit.
4. Install mitigation if needed
If radon levels are above 4 pCi/L, mitigation may be required for home sales. If levels are lower but you spend significant time in the affected area, it’s still wise to install a mitigation system to protect yourself and your family.
5. Remeasure to verify system function
